![]() ![]() The captain said that if he was not back by the departure time he would be left behind. We knew it was almost time to depart and asked if it was possible to wait for my brother in law who was parking the car. The captain notified us we couldn’t park there and told us we had to drive back to another section. We got there a couple minutes before our departure time however we were parking in the wrong section. We we’re running late for this tour, as we were traveling with our baby nephew and had a hiccup along the way. The captain on this day was not a kind person at all. We signed up for this snorkel tour and it was the worst day of our vacation. Or just do a sunset cruise, enjoy the boat ride and see the turtles from the boat. If you’re looking for great guides and an efficient experience, I would consider another company. Our guides didn’t even have snorkel gear on to look for turtles under water. We knew where to look based on other guides from other boats. Then in the water, there was no help in finding turtles. Its unfortunate that 25% of our time was just waiting on the boat watching everyone else snorkel. I appreciate safety but that process could have been so much faster, especially when there were multiple crew members on the boat and one crew person just sitting watching. Then once it was time to snorkel it literally took 30 minutes for us to get our gear and wait in line as the capitan went 1 by 1 to check people and let them in the water. Once we got to the turtle snorkeling spot, it seemed that the crew took extra time to settle the boat and wasn’t confident with how they moored. The boat itself was really nice - a very enjoyable and big catamaran for a ride out on the ocean. Crew, when not issuing orders, were good and friendly. None of this is to say that this trip is worse than others to the same place. ![]() My guess is that that 50 yard square bit of sea generates about $10m of revenue a year, but if the government cared they’d limit visits to one boat at a time - better for everyone. Our friends drove to the North side, rented paddle boards, and paddled happily, and alone, with turtles. All the rest of the journey is padding but putting lipstick on a pig doesn’t change the pig. Frankly, it felt like visiting a dingy zoo twenty years ago. Our crew were perfectly nice (if frankly bossy) but arriving in a spot where approximately 100 people are already in the water in a space maybe 50 yards square does not make for a special trip. However, my strong advice to anyone with an alternative (a car so you can travel elsewhere on the island) is to avoid all trips to Turtle Canyon. If you MUST visit Turtle Canyon, I’d happily recommend this tour. While we want everyone to have exactly the experience they were hoping to have and more, we must take safety very seriously, and our system is designed to ensure that each and every passenger enjoys their snorkel knowing they are very well looked after and protected. Passengers do not only get 35 minutes in the water, they get a little over an hour in the water, with the rest of the time allocated to cruising to and from the harbor, at which point passengers usually enjoy sightseeing, and explore the options we have at our full premium bar. The time in the water that you stated is also inaccurate. For future reference, the snorkel belts are actually better for snorkeling than traditional life jackets. I spoke with the general manager who interacted with you, as well as the crew, who noted that you were not following safety protocols, and in turn were putting the other passengers safety at risk during the equipment fittings.Īs for the equipment issues, we again go back to listening to the instructions of the captain and crew, and allowing them to fit you with your mask and snorkel. With regards to the owner being rude to guests, the owner was not on the boat that day. However, out of fairness to our family-run small business, I must correct a couple of statements that you made. We always strive for our passengers to have a top quality, enjoyable cruise that they look forward to doing again. It seems your experience did not meet your expectations, and for that we apologize. ![]()
